Out of the Loop

Some of you may have been wondering why I have not been posting as much as I normally do. Some recent events have made it impossible to keep up with blogging recently. For starters, Blogger has made some changes and really made it difficult to publish a post. I know many people are having similar issues and I feel like my blog has been taken hostage.
I made the effort to create posts to be published while I was away and that didn't happen correctly either. I had to go in and manually release posts because the automation was not working properly. With that being said, my contractor called and said he would be able to come back and work on my house restoration. I have too many irons in the fire but that should work itself out soon so I will be back to blogging. Only if blogger will cooperate! Please stay tuned.

Bucket O' Gifts

I finally found the time to finish a project that isn't a card! I purchased this empty paint can from a home improvement store and began to altar it some time ago. I carved out a few hours of time recently so that I could finish it. Here is the list of materials!

Stamps- Anna Griffin alphabet, floral background and oval cartouche. God's Beauty by Stampin' Up!
Card Stock- SU! Very Vanilla
Designer Paper- Anna Griffin
Ribbon- Sheer apple green was purchased on ebay and does not list a manufacturer. Pink ribbon was under the Big Lots name and the 3/16 green picot is Offray Spool-O-Ribbon.
Silk Flowers-Spring inspirations bush from Jo-Ann store
Green Bling-Jo-Ann store
Half Pearls- Martha Stewart by EK Sucess
Ink- SU! Old Olive, Versa Mark Watermark and Anna Griffin rose
Markers- SU! Pretty in Pink, Pixie Pink and Sage Shadow
SU! Silver detail embossing powder
Sizzix Pillow Box Die Cut

The pillow box was glued to the back of the can with rubber cement and a bow and butterfly were added for decoration. This box holds the key to open the can. Now it is your turn! What kind of gift container can you create?

Class Alert and Fellowship

This post is a sticky and will remain at the top of the page for several weeks. Please scroll down to see the latest post! I have had a lot of people tell me that they want to get into scrapbooking but don't know where to start so I have devised a plan to get you started. My motive is to form a women's group that can share their lives with one another and come together for fellowship! Once you get the hang of it we hope you will be able to attend our monthly crop/craft night held at Pump Springs Church. This is free to anyone who wishes to come. We usually pitch in $5 and order pizza so we don't have to worry about dinner that night. You may also bring your own sandwich if you don't want pizza. It's just a great night to get together as women!Let me tell you a bit about what I have in mind and how this will work. We will be making this calendar over a period of several months to showcase different tools, materials and techniques used in scrapbooking. You will be taught by two different instructors who will show you many of the ins and outs of the scrapping world. Some of you are thinking that you can't make it to that many classes and that's alright. As long as you order a calendar for the first class, you can take all or some of the classes as your schedule allows. If you miss a class, you may obtain a kit and complete it later or come up with your own design. It's up to you!

The calender is spiral bound and the scrapbook page that you create can be torn off to form a book at the end of the year. We will also make a companion page for each month of the calendar so you have a complete 2 page layout! The month isn't quite complete yet on this one but you will do that in class. I don't want to give everything away right now. You need something to look forward to in class! We'll make these pages for the first class and also talk about cutting systems and adhesives. These pages were made using several different cutting systems! Can you figure out which ones? We'll talk about the pros and cons of these systems and let you try your hand at using them.By the time we are finished with all of these classes, you will know a great deal about, paper, card stock, embellishments, how to make your own embellishments, die cutting machines, inks, stamps and soooo much more. Did you know that there is a right and wrong way to crease paper according to how it is manufactured and the tools you use to create a crease? You may or may not be in love with every layout that we create but this is a learning experience that will expose you to many materials that are available on the market. It's always great to try things before you buy so get signed up for this class ASAP!Contact me for the details! See you in class!

Pink Vellum

Lately I have been making cards with plenty of layers but with less dimension. Why you may ask? Well the postal service wants 64 cents to mail a dimensional card and a lot of people don't want to pay extra postage. So I have been trying to figure out how to make pretty cards that can be mailed for 44 cents. I began with white card stock and added pink designer paper and embossed pink vellum. Next I added the car touche and sentiment. Still too plain so I made a belly band with white paper and pink vellum. You can't see it but the band has been stamped with white ink and it looks very crisp and feminine. This is one of those cards that you need to see In Real Life because the photo just doesn't do it justice! I hope the birthday recipient enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Happy Fourth!

Okay, here's what not to do with crystal effects. I made my own bling with micro beads, sequins and crystal effects and I like the way it turned out. When I was attaching them to the card using crystal effects, one slid and the shine was on the paper where I did not want it so I decided to coat the paper in CE to hide my mistake. The first coat dried and was very streaked so I applied a second coat and it looks better. Still not very even but the card was salvaged and all the work was not in vain. Just wanted to post so you can learn from my mistake. All products used are SU! except for the home made bling!
I wanted to wish everyone a happy fourth weekend! I hope you are all able to enjoy your family this weekend! Thanks go out to all of the military who sacrifice time with family and friends to keep us safe and continue to allow us to enjoy freedom!
This was supposed to post July 4th but for some reason the last 2 posts have not posted. I'll see if I can find out what is going on and get the posts working again. Until then happy belated 4th!
